SELMA, TX—AUGUST 8, 2017—Samuel Martinez’s Barefoot Beach is one of nine Texas-bred sprinters entered in Friday’s 350-yard, $15,000 Live Oak Stakes (R) at Retama Park.
A 4-year-old daughter of Ivory James trained by Trey Ellis, Barefoot Beach will be stretching out in distance off of her third-place finish, a half of a length behind winner Dash Dont Cheat, in the 250-yard, $30,000 TQHA 250 Stakes (R) on July 28. The mare has earned $15,188 from five outs this season.
Barefoot Beach drew post 2 and will be ridden by Noe Villatoro. Her eight opponents include Kraken Black, a 5-year-old First Down Mr Jess gelding owned and trained by Santiago Riojas Jr. Kraken Black is coming off of a third-place finish, three-quarters of a length behind winnerr Apollitical Wave, in the 400-yard, $35,000 TQHA Classic Stakes (RG3) on July 28.
Kraken Black drew post 8 and will be ridden by Damian Martinez.
