LOS ALAMITOS, CA—AUGUST 23, 2017—Urschel 3-D Ranch LLC’s Rite Regal enjoyed a sensational sophomore campaign last year with victories in the Golden State Derby, El Primero Del Ano Derby, and Z. Wayne Griffin Directors Trials.

The gelding by Favorite Cartel enjoyed his first victory of 2017 when he scored in last month’s Sprint Stakes at 350 yards on California Breeders Champions Night.

To be ridden by Cruz Mendez for trainer Jose Flores, Rite Regal will go after his second stakes win of the year when he leads a compact field in the $15,000 Be A Bono Handicap at 350 yards on Saturday at Los Alamitos. First post for the 8-race card is 7:03 p.m.

Rite Regal’s 2016 season also included an appearance in the Grade 1 Champion of Champions and a second-place finish in the Grade 1 Los Alamitos Super Derby. He won seven of 11 starts and has won one of two starts this year. He’ll start from post two on Saturday.

Michael Amburn’s Freakin Runaway finished third to Rite Regal in last year’s Z. Wayne Griffin Directors Trial. The Mike Robbins-trainee won his trial to the Grade 1 Vesssels Maturity and then finished fourth to the outstanding BH Lisas Boy in the 400-yard final. Rodrigo Aceves will ride the Ocean Runaway gelding.

Ed Allred and Tom Seibly’s Stel Corona gelding, Stel Easy, winner of the Jens List Memorial Stakes last year, will start from post three in the Be A Bono.
