Tarzanito To Make 2017 Debut in Sgt Pepper Feature On Saturday

LOS ALAMITOS, CA—AUGUST 26, 2017—A1A Racing LLC’s Tarzanito, the PCQHRA 2-year-old colt of the year in 2016, will make his anticipated season debut when he leads a field of seven sophomores in the $25,000 Sgt Pepper Feature Handicap on Saturday at Los Alamitos.

Now trained by Yanet Rodriguez and to be ridden by Eddie Garcia, Tarzanito finished second in the Grade 1, $1,016,000 Golden State Million Futurity last year, while winning four of his six career starts.

The colt by Favorite Cartel has been training steadily for his racing return, posting a trio of nice turn and works at 350 yards since June 20. Garcia, this track’s all-time leading jockey, will ride Tarzanito from post number three.

Bred by Patricia Visscher, Tarzanito is one of three Sgt Pepper Feature runners eligible to compete in the Grade 1 Los Alamitos Super Derby trials on October 21.

Paul Blanchard and Dutch Masters III’s Katella Deli, the runner-up in the Governor’s Cup Derby in his last start, and Darling Farms and Jaime Gomez’s Thats Imperial, a Golden State finalist last year and an allowance winner earlier this year, are the other two Super Derby eligible horses in the Sgt Pepper.

This field will also feature J. Francisco Diaz’s Hoose Coose, an easy winner in the 550-Yard Sophomore Stakes on July 30, plus Bannister, Threemakesone, and Well Good will also race.
