Ruidoso Select Yearling Sale Final Numbers Released

RUIDOSO DOWNS, NM—SEPTEMBER 14, 2017—Ruidoso Horse Sale Company released final sales results for their just completed Ruidoso Select Yearling Sale held September 1-3, 2017 at their sales pavilion in Ruidoso Downs.

Based on final numbers reported by the sale company the 3-day sale, this year's gross sale improved 9% to $13,208,500 compared with last year while the average was up 17% to $43,307 and median trended up 7% to $28,000. This year's sale saw 305 yearling sell from the 401 offered (78%).

There were 27 yearlings topping six-figures, 10 for $200,000 or more and two yearlings for more than $300,000.

The partnership of Adame Racing LLC, Benny and Terrie Jeter, Dena Todd and Douglas Traylor paid $320,000 for the sale's high-seller, Hip 110 A Galaxy Guardian. The Corona Cartel colt is from the champion mare Higher Fire by Walk Thru Fire. Julianna Hawn Holt consigned the colt whose half-sister Fly Baby Fly won the 2017 $3 million All American Futurity(G1) on Labor Day.

Clyde Wilmott paid $310,000 for Hip 75, a Mr Jess Perry colt out of stakes-winner and multiple stakes producer Rustys Quickid by Royal Quick Dash. Consigned by Roger Daly, Agent for Burnett Ranches LLC/Wilmott, Streakin Rusty is a brother to multiple stakes horses including Grade 1 winner Jessa Little Rusty.

The sale's third high seller, Hip 340 Famous Strong Eagle, sold to Jose J. and Pedro Aguado Espinosa for $240,000. Grants Farms, LLC consigned the son of leading sire One Famous Eagle out of the Grade 1 winning Strawfly Special mare Strength In Numbers. She is the dam of five stakes horses including 2017 Ruidoso Juvenile winner Mr Perry Strong.

Paragon Farms, LLC was the sale's leading buyer with nine purchases grossing $1,047,000. Manuel Rodriguez had four head for $525,00 and Reliance Ranches, LLC paid $395,000 for four head.

Julianna Hawn Holt was the leading consignor or agent with 12 head grossing $1,683,000, Burns Ranch, Agent sold 21 head for $966,000 and Grant Farms LLC sold 22 for $962,000.

One Famous Eagle to the Leading Sale Sire of Yearlings (by average with two or more sold) with 27 head averaging $68,148. Corona Cartel had 28 yearlings average $66,29 and Apollitical Jess saw 13 yearlings average $60,538.
