Heritage Place September Yearling Sale Exceeds $10.38 Million

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK—SEPTEMBER 23, 2017—Gross sales for Heritage Place's just completed September Yearling Sale rose 8% this year to $10,384,400 compared to $9,599,100 in 2016.

"The sale finished up today with an overall average on horses sold up 13% over last year’s Yearling Sale," Heritage Place General Manager Spence Kidney said Saturday evening. "We sold 87% of the horses offered over the past 3 days."

Saturday's closing session marked the final day of three-day sale with 649 yearlings averaging $16,001 compared to last year's sale average of $14,221. The median was up a whopping 14% to $11,000 compared to $9,500 in 2016.

"Heritage Place wants to thank everyone for their business and best of luck on their purchases," Kidney added.

Abelardo F. Gallegos paid $125,000 for the sale's high-seller, Hip 735 Extremely Defining, in Saturday's closing session. Fulton Quien Sabe Ranches, LP consigned the son of leading living sire Corona Cartel from the stakes-placed Feature Mr Jess mare Defining Difference. Extremely Defining is a half-brother to stakes-placed G1-finalist Tayte Me Down. The second dam is Heritage Place Futurity(G1) winner Daring Difference, a half-sister to leading sire Mr Eye Opener.

Crown Racing/Jim Spry paid $115,000 on Friday for the sale's second high-seller, Hip 400 Jon E Cash 123, a son of world champion sire FDD Dynasty from the champion producing Takin On The Cash mare Hot Cash 123. Marty Powers, Agent for Carolyn C. Bay consigned the half-brother to world champion Cold Cash 123.

Ricardo Ramirez purchased the third high-seller, Hip 399 One Famous Icon also selling on Friday, for $107,000. Granada Farms, Agent for Johnny Trotter consigned the Mr Jess Perry brother to champion and leading sire One Famous Eagle. One Famous Icon is out of the stakes-placed and multiple stakes producing Chicks Beduino mare One Famous Lady.

Alejandro Castaneda was the sale's leading buyer with 22 purchases for $292,700. Rachuan Suarez MVZ paid $272,400 for 24 yearlings and JGA Racing Stables Inc. bought three head for $182,000.

Lazy E Ranch, LLC, Agent was the leading consignor or agent with 46 yearlings grossing $721,200. Marty Powers, Agent sold 32 yearlings for $514,700 and Lazy E Ranch, LLC, Agent for McColee Land & Livestock, LLC sold 11 head for $365,200.

Corona Cartel led all sale sires (by average with two or more sold) with 10 yearlings averaging $52,350. First Down Dash had 13 for $36,538 average and first-crop sale sire Five Bar Cartel had three yearlings average $32,333.
