Grade 1 winner Nymeria will head Saturday’s 400-yard Texas Classic Futurity (G1) trials at Lone Star Park.

GRAND PRAIRIE, TX —-OCTOBER 18, 2017 — Nymeria, a Grade 1-winning daughter of Bigtime Favorite owned by Alfredo Garza, is one of 100 2-year-olds entered in Saturday’s 400-yard Texas Classic Futurity (G1) trials at Lone Star Park.

Nymeria has earned $494,772 from four races, and her two wins include a neck victory at odds of 9-1 in the 350-yard, $1.155-million Heritage Place Futurity (G1) at Remington Park on June 3. The filly drew post 10 and will be ridden by Jose A. Alvarez for trainer Alonso Neri in the third of 10 trials.

Hotstepper is coming off of a third-place finish, 1 3/4 lengths behind winner Fly Baby Fly, in the 440-yard, $3-million All American Futurity (G1) at Ruidoso Downs. A bay son of One Famous Eagle trained by C. Dwayne “Sleepy” Gilbreath for owners R.D. Hubbard, Henry Southway, and Rafter W Stables, the gelding has won two of five outs and has banked $290,200, and he was a finalist in the 400-yard, $1-million Rainbow Futurity (G1) in July.

Cody Jensen will ride Hotstepper from post 4 in the fourth heat.

Other graded stakes winning juveniles entered in the Texas Classic Futurity trials include Mary G. Lynne Thompson’s This Is An Eagle and Alejandro Moya’s Together To The End. This Is An Eagle has won all four of his starts, including the 330-yard, $484,000 Sam Houston Futurity (G2) in April, and he has earned $200,040. The One Famous Eagle colt drew post 4 and will be ridden by Francisco Calderon for trainer Leon Bard in the seventh trial.

Together To The End is a homebred daughter of champion Inseperable trained by Saul Ramirez Jr. The filly began her career with a two-race win streak that included a neck victory in the 300-yard, $234,000 Harrah’s Entertainment Futurity (G3) at Louisiana Downs in March.

Eddie Sanchez will ride Together To The End from post 4 in the sixth heat.

The 10 fastest qualifiers will meet in the $1-million Texas Classic Futurity final on November 11.
