Two-time Indiana Grand stakes winner Stone Cold Leader will head the Miss Roxie Little Futurity on Saturday.

SHELBYVILLE, IN—OCTOBER 20, 2017—Saturday’s nine-race all-Quarter Horse card at Indiana Grand features five stakes, topped by the 350-yard, $188,200 Miss Roxie Little Futurity (R) for state-bred 2-year-olds.

Post time for the first race is set for 6:05 p.m. (EDT).

Patrick Richardson’s Stone Cold Leader, a two-time stakes winner during the Indiana Grand meet, drew post 2 and will be ridden by Rolando Pina for trainer Erin Thompson in the Miss Roxie Little Futurity. A gelded son of Brookstone Bay, Stone Cold Leader has earned $187,996 from seven outs, all at Indiana Grand, and his resume includes victories in the June 17, $184,000 Gordon Mobley Futurity (R), and the August 26, $177,000 Indiana Stallion Futurity (R).

Other contender include fastest qualifier Beach Treat, a sorrel son of Escondido Beach owned and trained by Ronald Brown. Beach Treat is coming off of a one-length victory in the last of four trials on October 7.

Beach Treat drew post 9 and will be ridden by Harold Collins.

Fastest qualifier Tommy The Train is one of 10 sophomores entered back in Saturday’s 400-yard, $120,120 QHRAI Derby.

A Freighttrain B gelding trained by Larry Sharp for owners Jon Barley, Brant Barley, and Brad Sharp, Tommy The Train has won all five of his outs at Indiana Grand, including two stakes, and he was a finalist in the March 25, $251,000 Oklahoma Derby (G3) at Remington Park. Tommy The Train drew post 3 and will be ridden by James Flores.

Indiana Championship Stakes

Ruth F. Barbour’s Country Boy 123 will make his first-ever start at Indiana Grand in Saturday’s 400-yard, $85,480 Indiana Championship Stakes.

A 4-year-old son of champion Country Chicks Man trained by Anthony Cunningham, Country Boy 123 will be shortening in distance off of his neck victory as the odds-on favorite in the 440-yard, $87,000 Alex Picov Championship Stakes at Ajax Downs on October 9. The Michigan-bred gelding drew post 6 and will be ridden by Giovani Vazquez-Gomez.

Woop Dee Doo, a 4-year-old Good Reason SA gelding owned and trained by Ricardo Martinez, drew post 2 and will be ridden by Alonso Rivera. Woop Dee Doo is coming off of a second-place finish, 1 1/2 lengths behind winner AJs High, in the 440-yard, $74,000 Bank of America Prairie Meadows Championship Challenge Stakes.

La Vencedora, a daughter of Ivory James trained by Larry Sharp for owners Jon Barley and Brant Barley, heads a field of 10 2-year-olds entered in Saturday’s 350-yard, $134,400 Governor’s Stakes. La Vencedora has banked $388,206 from five starts, and her four wins include a head victory in the 330-yard, $1.002-million Remington Park Futurity (RG2) for Oklahoma-breds on April 22.

La Vencedora drew post 8 and will be ridden by James Flores.

Ten 2-year-olds have been entered back in Saturday’s 330-yard, $44,080 Speed Sale Futurity (R) for juveniles who sold as weanlings or yearlings at the Indiana Speed Sale. Keith Bode’s Jessalilsecret, a gelded son of Hez Our Secret trained by Randy Smith, will put his undefeated record on the line from post 7 under jockey Berkley Packer. Jessalilsecret has won both of his starts, including a Miss Roxie Little Futurity trial on October 7, and he has earned $11,550.
