PORTLAND, OR—OCTOBER 30, 2017—Top qualifier Diva Has It will look to lay claim to the $31,550 Far West Futurity for owner Adrian Quinones on Monday after turning in the best time for the trials with a 18:245 over a fast track on October 16th.

The two-year-old filly by One Sweet Jess will be ridden by veteran pilot Lorenzo Lopez for Trainer Adrian Gallegos Quinones in the 350-yard test.

With a career record of two wins and one second from five starts, Diva Has It is slated as the second favorite on the morning line.

The early favored role goes to One For The Brothers at 5-2 from K & R Allred Ranch LLC. Trained by Hector Magallanes, One For The Brothers was closing fast in the trial dash behind Diva Has It.

The Arizona-Bred colt drifted out a bit at the start in the trial event but was quickly gathered up by Jockey Eduardo Sosa who will be atop the juvenile son of leading sire One Famous Eagle in the final dash.

One For The Brothers was unplaced in his first two lifetime starts at Ruidoso Downs in New Mexico when the young colt encountered some bumping in a troubled debut and second start. However, upon arrival at Portland he scored his maiden victory right off the trailer and proceeded to be a menacing runner-up in the Far West Trials.

The Far West Futurity will be the fourth race on the Monday Program.

Fillies and Mares will take the stage in the $12,000 added Mt St Helens Handicap as multiple stakes winner McKenzie Honey will square off with Winninginfashion and five others in the six furlong' event.

Sporting the colors of Eakin, Nance & Smith, McKenzie Honey was a monster at Turf Paradise this year by winning the ATBA Sales Stakes at six furlongs, the Arizona Oaks at one mile and the Scottsdale Handicap at mile on the turf at the Phoenix oval.

Trained by Jonathan Nance with Nathan Haar to ride, the three-year-old daughter of Parading will try to bounce back after unplaced efforts at Santa Anita and Emerald Downs in The Irish Day Stakes.

The Mt St. Helens will be the first appearance at Portland Meadows for the Kentucky-Bred filly. Her main opposition will likely loom in the form of Winninginfashion who won the Multnomah Falls Handicap at five and one half furlongs in a brisk 1:06:64 over a fast track.

Owned by Rancho Viejo, Carmody and Baze as trainer Rigoberto Velasquez will saddle the seven year old daughter of In Excess. Jockey Jose Zunino will guide the California-Bred mare in what the connections hope will be her third consecutive win.
