DG Tempter Draws Post 8 for Black Gold 440 Futurity Championship Final

CLAREMORE, OK—NOVEMBER 11, 2017—Fastest qualifier DG Tempter will risk his three-race win streak in today's (Saturday) $282,552 Black Gold 440 Futurity Championship (RG3) at Will Rogers Downs.

DG Tempter is a homebred son of champion Tempting Dash trained by Hipolito Michel-Valverde for owners Richard and Genevieve Herrman. The gelding is coming off of a two-length victory in the last of five trials on October 27.

DG Tempter drew post 8 and will be ridden by Mario Delgado. His nine opponents include Randy J. Davis’ Cloud Ridge, a graded stakes winning Carters Cartel gelding trained by Stacey Capps. Cloud Ridge has won four of six starts, including the 350-yard, $50,000 Easy Jet Stakes (RG3) at Remington Park on June 3, and he has banked $83,002.

Cloud Ridge drew post 7 and will be ridden by Berkley Packer.

Also on Saturday, a full field of 10 state-bred 2-year-olds, topped by fastest qualifier Pv Queen Bee Candy, has been entered in the 350-yard, $186,892 Oklahoma Horsemen’s Association Mystery Futurity (RG3). Trained by Clint Crawford for owner Gordon Pevehouse, Queen Bee Candy scored a clear 2 3/4-length victory in the fourth of eight trials on October 29. Omar Reyes will ride the homebred daughter of Cartels Candy Man from post 3.

As And Js, a bay daughter of Apollitical Jess owned and trained by Leonardo Alcala, heads a field of 10 state-bred sophomores in Saturday’s 350-yard, $66,228 Oklahoma Horsemen’s Association Mystery Derby (R). As And Js has earned $65,444 from seven outs this year, and her season resume includes a second-place finish in the July 29, $157,000 Retama Park Derby. The filly drew post 3 and will be ridden by Cesar Gomez.
