LQHBA Fall Mixed Gross, Average and Median Post Strong Gains

OPELOUSAS, LA—NOVEMBER 18, 2017—LQHBA's Fall Mixed Sale posted across-the-board gains on Saturday in Opelousas.

LQHBA sold 128 horses for $600,350, up 41% from 2016 when 123 horses brought $424,800. The average of $4,727 rose 37% versus last year's $3,454. The median of $3,500 was up 59%, compared with $2,200 in 2016.

“This is possibly the best Fall Mixed Sale in the history of our Association," LQHBA Executive Director Tony Patterson said Saturday afternoon. "We thank everyone who helped make this entire weekend possible and we look forward to our LQHBA Louisiana Million night on December 16th at Evangeline Downs.”

Rick Boutte paid $22,000 for the sale's high-seller, Hip 36 Fast Prize Dolly a full-sister to the dam of 2017 Grade 1 Texas Classic Derby winner Apolltical Chad. S & E Prepping, Agent for Weetona Stanley consigned the 8-year-old daughter of Shazoom out of Heritage Place Futurity(G1) winner Fast First Prize, a sister to leading sire Heza Fast Dash.

She sold with a recipient mare carrying an embryo to multiple stakes sire Freighttrain B.

Hip 42 Hezafastbaby was the high-selling yearling for $19,000. Jose R. Espinoza signed the ticket on the gelded son of leading sire Heza Fast Dash. Grant Farms, LLC consigned the first foal from the G1-placed Carters Cartel mare Bab Ba Licious. This is the family of Graded 3 winner Rock N Strawfly.

Rancho La Cobra was the sales' leading buyer with two head for $26,000. JM Performance Horses paid $22,100 for seven head and Rick Boutte had the one mare for $22,000.

Robicheaux Ranch, Inc., Agent was leading consignor or agent with nine head grossing $91,400. Blanchet Farms, LLC, Agent had 13 head bring $67,600 and Grant Farms, LLC sold five head for $51,800.

Heza Fast Dash was the leading sale sire of yearlings (by average with two or more sold) with two head averaging $14,500. Fast Prize Dash had two yearlings for $14,250 and Jess Louisiana Blue saw seven yearlings average $8,114.

Champion Apollitical Blood was the leading covering sire (by average with two or more in-foal mares sold) with two in-foal mares averaging $20,000. Sir Runaway Dash had two in-foal mares at $8,000 and Mr Piloto had two in-foal mares for a $6,900 average.
