Five-Figure Summer Sale Yearlings Among Trainees In Remington Schooling Races This Week

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK--MARCH 5, 2018--A number of five-figure summer sale yearlings are set to compete during two-days of training races for 2-year-olds at Remington Park this week.

The Oklahoma City racetrack will host seven races each day (12 total for 2-year-olds) on Wednesday and Thursday. First post is at 11:00 am (CST) each day. All races are contested at the 250 yards distance.

One of Wednesday's expected high-lights will be Race 3 when $75,000 Heritage Place Yearling Sale graduate Baruch Cartel MV will faceoff with $70,000 Ruidoso Select Yearling Sale repurchase Corona Squared.

Trainer Julio Corral will saddled Baruch Cartel MV, a brother to Grade 1 winner and leading sire Pyc Paint Your Wagon, for owner S. Nunez. The bay son of leading sire Corona Cartel is out of the Strawfly Special Dashin Follies, dam of 19 winners, three stakes winners and three stakes-placed runners.

Clinton Crawford will saddle Corona Squared in Race 3 for owner Michael Rogers. Also a son of Corona Cartel, Corona Sauared is out of the Grade 2 winning Jess Louisiana Blue mare Louisana Corona. The second dam is the All American Futurity(G1) winning three-time AQHA Racing Champion Corona Cash.

Another horse to watch in Race 3 is Bodaciousbizooms, a half-sister to Heritage Place Futurity winner Big Biz Perry. Trey Wood conditions the Bodacious Dash $32,000 Heritage Place Yearling Sale graduate for Tod and Gene Bradley. This is the family of All American Futurity winner Runnning Brook Gal.

Race 4 on Wednesday will feature $70,000 Ruidoso Select graduate Sanngria. The son of last year's leading second-crop sire Big Daddy Cartel is out of the AQHA Racing Champion and AQHA Racing Champion producer Alice K White, by First Down Dash. Jason Olmstead trains for owners Tom and Bill Maher.

On Thursday Olmstead will try Tom and Bill Maher's $47,000 Ruidoso Select Sale graduate Corona Rock Star in Race 3. Another son of Corona Cartel, the bay colt is a half-brother to Canterbury Distaff Challenge winner JR Rock Star. His dam, One Famous Rock Star by Mr Jess Perry, is a sister to champion and leading sire One Famous Eagle.

Trials for the 77th running of the Grade 3 Oklahoma Futurity will be contested Saturday (March 10) and the $450,000 final will be run back on Saturday, March 24. The Oklahoma Futurity is the oldest continuously contested futurity in the history of AQHA.
