SUNLAND PARK, NM--MARCH 13, 2018--A total of 101 state-bred 2-year-olds, headed by recent maiden winners RCJ Specter and CD Flash N Fame, has been entered in Friday’s 300-yard New Mexican Spring Futurity (RG2) trials at Sunland Park.

RCJ Specter is a chestnut daughter of Jesse James Jr trained by Wes Giles for owner Steven W. Wilson. A $4,200 yearling purchase at last year’s New Mexico-Bred Sale at Ruidoso Downs, the filly made her debut with a half-length victory in a 300-yard maiden-special-weight dash for New Mexico-breds on March 2.

RCJ Specter drew the rail post and will be ridden by Adrian Ramos in the third of 11 trials.

CD Flash N Fame is a brown son of champion First Moonflash owned and trained by Juan Esquivel. The colt made his debut with a one-length win as the 5-2 favorite in a 300-yard maiden-special-weight sprint for New Mexico-breds on March 2.

CD Flash N Fame drew post 8 and will be ridden by Jose Enrique Ortiz in the fourth heat.

The 10 fastest qualifiers will meet in the April 7, $140,000 New Mexican Spring Futurity final.
