PHOENIX, AZ—MARCH 21, 2018—Multiple stakes winners Texas Tornadoe and Cowgirl N Up will make their 3-year-old debuts in Saturday’s AQRA President’s Open Spring Derby trials at Turf Paradise.

Texas Tornadoe and Cowgirl N Up will match up in the second of three 350-yard heats. A daughter of Texas Icon trained by Raul Valenzuela for owner Angel Valenzuela, Texas Tornadoe is coming off of a 2-year-old campaign during which the filly won four of nine starts, including two stakes, and banked $36,799.

Texas Tornadoe drew post 3 and will be ridden by Andres Osuna.

Cowgirl N Up, a homebred Texas Icon filly trained by Matt Fales for owners Ralph and Carolyn Fales of Coolidge, Arizona, ended her juvenile season with a clear 1 1/2-length victory in the 400-yard, $40,280 Arizona QRA Futurity on December 10. The filly won four of eight starts and earned $43,884 during her 2-year-old campaign.

Cowgirl N Up drew post 5 and will be ridden by J. Martin Bourdieu.

The 10 fastest qualifiers from Saturday’s trials will meet in the $40,000-est. AQRA President’s Open Derby final on April 7.
