FARMINGTON, NM—MAY 2, 2018—Comin To Your Town, a graded stakes placed 5-year-old son of Jesse James Jr owned by Vanessa C. Hinostroza and Rogelio Carrasco Jr., is one of eight sprinters entered in Sunday’s 400-yard, $25,000 La Plata Stakes at SunRay Park.
Trained by Guadalupe Munoz Jr., Comin To Your Town will be stretching out in distance off of his third-place finish, 1 1/2 lengths behind winner Major Bites, in the 350-yard, $85,000 Mesilla Valley Speed Handicap (RG2) at Sunland Park on March 3. The gelding drew post 6 and will be ridden by Federico Martinez.
Other contenders include Jose M. Munoz’s Mighty B Cartel, a 4-year-old Mighty B Valiant gelding trained by Ruben Leyba Jr. Mighty B Cartel has earned $54,947 from 10 starts, and he was a finalist in last year’s 400-yard, $1-million Ruidoso Derby (G1) at Ruidoso Downs.
Mighty B Cartel drew post 4 and will be ridden by Irving Delgado-Bustillos.
