Two-Time Horse of the Year Country Boy 123 Heads Picov Maturity Trials on Sunday

AJAX, ONT—MAY 17, 2018—Two-time Ajax Downs Horse Of The Year Country Boy 123 returns to racing on Sunday in one of two time trials for the $50,000-added Picov Maturity.

The 300 yard final will run back on Sunday, June 3.

Ruth Barbour’s 5-years-old son of AQHA Racing champion Country Chicks Man, will break from post 5 in the second trial, carded as race 4 on the 8-race schedule. Cory Spataro, his regular rider, will be aboard.

Country Boy 123 won five of seven races last season and earned $99,017 (US) including the Alex Picov Memorial Championship, All Canadian Stakes and Picov Maturity. He is a career winner of 11 races and more than $181,000.

Country Boy 123 will face multiple stakes winner LS Prince, a 4-year-old son of Louisiana Senator, a previous Ajax Horse of the Year in Fiesty Icon, as well as the improving Hickerson and Albert, plus Iconic Shift.

In the first trial, race 3, 2013 Horse of the Year One Famous Glass, a son of leading sire One Famous Eagle who upset Country Boy 123 last year in the Bank of America Ajax Challenge, meets four rivals in his season debut. The include stakes winner Alakazaam, Countrys Comin Bac, Zoxtobeyou and Ms First Prize Pearl.
