Grade 3 Speedhorse Futurity Leads QH Stakes Tripleheader at Fair Meadows

TULSA, OK—JULY 26, 2018—Fastest qualifier Fly N Tell, a homebred Coronado Cartel filly owned and trained by Robert Esqueda, heads a field of 10 2-year-olds entered back in Saturday’s 350-yard, $222,000 Speedhorse Futurity (G3), one of three Quarter Horse stakes scheduled for Fair Meadows at Tulsa’s closing-night program.

Fly N Tell has earned $49,432 from seven starts, all in Oklahoma, and the filly’s three wins include a one-length victory at odds of 39-1 in the 350-yard, $50,000 Easy Jet Stakes (R) for Oklahoma-bred 2-year-olds at Remington Park on June 2. Fly N Tell drew post 4 and will be ridden by Daniel Torres.

Other contenders include Good Memories LLC’s Redneckedness, a stakes winning daughter of world champion Apollitical Jess trained by Michael Gunter. Redneckedness has won two of five starts, including the 350-yard, $15,000 Fair Meadows Juvenile Stakes on June 23.

Redneckedness drew post 5 and will be ridden by Jose Vega.

Also on Saturday, Regina Laymon’s Hookedonawin will risk his three-race win streak in the 350-yard, $75,300 Speedhorse Derby.

A gelded son of Pyc Paint Your Wagon trained by Kenny Laymon, Hookedonawin has banked $47,265 from seven races this season, and his current win streak includes a neck victory against aged sprinters in the 350-yard, $15,000 Golden Driller Stakes on June 17. Hookedonawin drew post 7 and will be ridden by Daniel Torres.

Saturday’s stakes tripleheader includes the 350-yard, $15,000 Cherokee Nation Stakes, which has drawn a full field of 10 2-year-olds. Pops Tempting Wagon, a son of champion Tempting Dash trained by Guillermo Valdivia for owners Gabriel Gutierrez and Bernardo Martinez, drew post 10 and will be ridden by Rolando Raudales. Pops Tempting Wagon has won one of three starts and has banked $39,476, and the colt’s resume includes a fourth-place finish in the 300-yard, $371,000 Oklahoma Futurity (G3) at Remington Park in March.
