SELMA, TX—AUGUST 29, 2018—Kashman, a gelded son of Prospect To The Top racing for Maria Gama Medrano and the fastest qualifier, is one of 10 2-year-olds entered back in Saturday’s 350-yard, $124,000 TQHA Sires’ Cup Futurity (RG3) at Retama Park.

Trained by Yoni Martinez, Kashman broke his maiden with a one-length victory at odds of 21-1 in the first of five trials on August 17. The gelding drew post 2 and will be ridden by Roman Huerta.

A & E Stables’ Coronas On The Coast drew post 7 and will be ridden by Everardo Rodriguez for trainer Martin Rodriguez. A sorrel son of Special Royal Corona, the gelding has earned $32,426 from six outs, and he ran fifth as the fastest qualifier in the 350-yard, $479,000 TQHA Sale Futurity (RG3) at Retama Park on July 28.

Also on Saturday, fastest qualifier Louisiana Seis heads a field of 10 sophomores entered back in the 400-yard, $63,300 TQHA Sires’ Cup Derby (R).

Trained by Jose U. Lopez for owners Christine and Kenneth Blouch and Jose R. Espinosa, Louisiana Seis is coming off of a three-quarter length victory as the 7-10 favorite in the last of three trials on August 18. The gray son of The Louisiana Cartel has banked $20,020 from four outs this season, and his race record includes a fifth-place finish, 1 3/4 lengths behind winner Stone Cold Leader, in the 400-yard, $212,000 Firecracker Derby at Delta Downs on June 30.

Louisiana Seis drew post 5 and will be ridden by J.R. Ramirez.
