OKLAHOMA CITY, OK—SEPTEMBER 20, 2018—Heritage Place finished their opening session of the 40th annual Yearling Sale today (Thursday) in Oklahoma City with across the board increases.

"We had a really good sale today," Heritage Place General Manager Spence Kidney said Thursday evening. "Crowd was great, and a strong demand was indicated in the $17,829 average with more than 89% of the horses offered being marked sold."

Gross sales for Thursday's opening session of the September Yearling Sale enjoyed an 8% increase to $3,904,600 for 219 head sold compared to 217 head that brought $3,602,300 last year. Thursday's yearling average hit $17,829 up 7% from last year's first day of $16,600. The biggest jump came for median prices that soared 20% from $10,500 in 2016 to $12,000 today.

Dillon Lane, for the second year in a row, purchased the opening day high-seller. He paid $140,000 for Hip 143 Analytix, a Mr Jess Perry colt from the G1-placed Corona Cartel mare All N The Jeans. Bobby D. Cox consigned the half-brother to stakes-placed Going Viral. Ruidoso Futurity (G1) winner All About Ease is the second dam.

Mark McCoy purchased the second high-seller Hip 195 Rocket Seis for $77,000 from the Marty Powers, Agent for Flag Ranch, LLC. The daughter of champion sire Tres Seis is out of the multiple graded winner Going To The Hague, by Holland Ease, the dam of G3-placed Her Painted Wagon.

A brother to champion Kates Dynasty was the third-high seller in the opening session for $75,000. Manuel Rodriguez purchased the FDD Dynasty from owner/breeder Jerry Windham. Out of the G1-placed Vital Sign mare Jennifer Kate, Hip 97 Running Buddy is half or full-sibling to 3 stakes winners.

Dillon Lane led all buyers on day 1 with two purchases totaling $185,000. Manuel Rodriguez signed three tickets for $166,000 and JGA Racing Stables Inc. paid $150,000 for three head.

Bobby D. Cox led all consignors and agents in the opening session with 13 head grossing $427,000. Lazy E Ranch, LLC, Agent for McColee Land & Livestock sold three yearlings for $190,000 and , Lazy E Ranch, LLC, Agent had eight head gross $180,000.

Corona Cartel was the opening session leading sale sire (by average, two or more sold) with six yearlings averaging $49,333. Tres Seis sold six for a $42,917 average and Mr Jess Perry had eight yearlings for $41,938.

First-crop sale sires Hes Relentless had 14 yearlings average $20,786 and Kiss My Hocks had nine yearlings for $20,389.
