GRAND PRAIRIE, TX—SEPTEMBER 21, 2018—Rappid, a graded stakes winning gelded son of Ivory James owned and trained by Matthew Eck, is one of 119 2-year-olds entered in Saturday’s 400-yard Dash For Cash Futurity (G2) trials at Lone Star Park.
Rappid will be making his first start since July 28, when he scored a half-length victory in the 350-yard, $222,000 Speedhorse Futurity (G3) at Fair Meadows at Tulsa. The gelding drew post 9 and will be ridden by Alfredo Triana Jr. in the 10th of 12 trials.
One Famous Stone, a two-time Grade 1 futurity finalists during the Ruidoso Downs meet, drew post 7 and will be ridden by Jorge Linares for owners Jose J. Espinoza and Pedro Aguado. A sorrel son of One Famous Eagle trained by Robert Meche, the gelding has earned $34,600 from five starts, all at Ruidoso, and he was a finalist in the 350-yard, $1-million Ruidoso Futurity (G1) in June, and the 400-yard, $1-million Rainbow Futurity (G1) in July..
Other prominent 2-year-olds entered in Saturday’s trials include J. Fabian Hernandez’s FM Im A Zatanaz Too, the winner of the April 28, $441,000 Sam Houston Futurity (G1); Larry J. Boudreaux’s Mpshinning, the winner of the August 26, $154,000 Gillespie County Fair Futurity at Fredericksburg, Texas, and Margarito Montalvo’s Invite A Favor, the winner of the June 16, 330-yard Rocky Mountain Futurity at Arapahoe Park near Denver.
The 10 fastest qualifiers will meet in the $400,000-est. Dash For Cash Futurity final on October 6.
