GRAND PRAIRIE, TX—SEPTEMBER 27, 2018—Bennie & Terri Jeter’s Rc Me Leaving You is back to defend his title in the 21st Nevill Stakes Saturday.

Gates open at 5 p.m. Post time for the first of the 12-race line-up is 6:05 p.m. The Nevill is scheduled as race 11 and will go at 10:45 p.m.

Trained by Jimmy Padgett, the 6-year-old stallion by Coronas Leaving You has won this race for the past two years. Only one other horse has won back-to-back editions of the Nevill Stakes. First Klas Fred won the 2011-12 editions.

Rc Me Leaving You hasn’t seen the winners circle since his score in the B. F. Phillips Stakes here last year, another stakes at Lone Star where he’s won back-to-back editions the past two years. His career record reads 29-7-8-7 earning a total of $208,098. Compare that to his record at Lone Star Park, 9-5-2-2 for earnings of $117,679. Something about this track works for him.

Jockey Rodrigo Vallejo was aboard for both wins here last year and will have the mount again is Saturdays Nevill.

Shannon “Stormy” Fisher’s SF Hot Pass, a graded stakes winner during the Retama Park meet, heads a field of 10 Texas-breds entered in Saturday’s 350-yard, $20,000 Nevill Stakes (R) at Lone Star Park.

A 5-year-old Ivory James gelding trained by Leon Bard, SF Hot Pass will be making his first start since July 27, when he scored a wire-to-wire, 1 3/4-length victory in the 400-yard, $40,000 TQHA Classic Stakes (RG3). SF Hot Pass drew post 2 and will be ridden by Francisco Calderon.

The field by post position with jockey and morning line odds:

  1. Kw Kowboy (Nestor Duran, 12-1)
  2. Sf Hot Pass (Francisco Calderon, 5-2)
  3. Gianni Que (Luciano Duenez, 7-2)
