First Down Dash Colt Highlights Increases In Los Alamitos Equine Sale Opener on Saturday

CYPRESS, CA—OCTOBER 6, 2018—My Great Secret, a colt by all-time leading sire First Down Dash was purchased by Bujanda Racing Stables for $97,000 to top the first session of the Los Alamitos Equine Mixed Sale today (Oct .6).

The session that begin at 10 a.m. (PDT) saw 127 of 151 head offered gross $2,641,900, a 26% increase over last year's opening session where 101 horses sold for $1,956,200. The opening day sale average increased by 7% to $20,802 compared with $19,368 on day 1 of 2017. The median fell to $14,000 from $15,500 on 2017's opening session.

Vista Equine Colorado, LLC Agent consigned Saturday's high-seller, Hip 7 a brother to Champion 3-Year-Old Colt and leading second-crop sire Hez Our Secret. Out of the G3-placed Separatist mare Secret Separation, My Great Secret is a half-sibling to two other back-type. The second dam, Grade 1 winner Dicey Secret is the dam of All American Futurity(G1) winner and multiple stakes sire No Secrets Here.

Hip 133 Lamasfina was the second high-seller in session 1 of the Los Alamitos Equine Sale for $80,000.

Pete Parrella paid $80,000 for Saturday's second high-seller, Hip 133 Lamasfina, a sister to Grade 2 winner Uno Corona Mas and Grade 3-placed Jess Mas. Burns Ranch, Agent consigned the One Sweet Jess filly out of the stakes-placed Corona Cartel mare Corona Mas Fina.

Burns Ranch, Agent was also the consignor of Saturday thrid high-seller, Hip 100 Polished Steal, a colt by first-year sale sire Separate Interest from the multiple Grade 1-placed and Grade 1 producing Strawfly Special mare Babe On The Fly. Todd and Gene Bradley paid $75,000 for the half-brother to Ruidoso Derby(G1) winner Rock You and Golden State Million Futurity(G1) winner Little Talks.

Rachuan Suarez was day 1's leading buyer with seven purchases totaling $180,200. Alex Castaneda had 14 head for $138,100 and the aforementioned Bujanda Racing Stables paid $129,000 for two yearlings.

Burns Ranch, Agent was the leading consignor or agent in session 1 with 29 head grossing $821,700. Edward Allred had 17 head bring $252,200 and Vista Equine Colorado, LLC, Agent sold eight for $243,200.

Walk Thru Fire was the leading session yearling sire (by average with two or more sold) with two yearlings averaging $44,500. First Down Dash has six yearlings average $41,333 and Good Reason SA had two for a $38,000 average. Separate Interest was the leading first-crop sale sire with 11 yearlings averaging $22,409.

Multiple Grade 1 sire Kiddy Up led covering sires on day 1 (by average with two or more sold) with four in-foal mares averaging $12,375, Separate Interest had two for $11,250.
