Schvaneveldt Rematch In John Ward Handicap On Saturday

LOS ALAMITOS, CA—OCTOBER 27, 2018—Led by winner Love To Reason BR, seven of the nine horses that competed in the Blane Schvaneveldt Handicap at 400 yards are back in action at the same distance to race in the $16,000 John Ward Handicap Saturday at Los Alamitos.

In addition to the Schvaneveldt winner, others returning for the John Ward include runner-up SP Four Square, third place finisher Joe Legacy and fourth place finisher Jess A Cowboy, who was the 4-5 Schvaneveldt favorite.

Ridden by Jose Nicasio for trainer Monty Arrossa, Love To Reason BR dominated the Schvaneveldt after breaking sharply from post seven in route to a 3/4 length victory at 4-1. With Nicasio aboard from post number two, the Good Reason SA mare will be going after her third victory of the year.

"I trained her as a 2-year-old," Arrossa said. "She was turned out, then ran a little bit as a 3-year-old and then was turned out again. They brought her back this year and had done well. They sent her down here and we worked her once. She likes to win races. She’s got a big heart. I’m proud of her."

Tickle Ur Fancy, second to Love To Reason BR in the Sun Downs Distaff Challenge in May, is the only newcomer to this field. She'll start from post number four in the eight-horse field.
