PORTLAND, OR—OCTOBER 27, 2018—Three-year-old and up allowance runners will vie at 350 yards in Monday's third race Quarter Horse feature at Portland Meadows worth $5,000.

Sanguino Racing’s For Sweet Jess will take on a field of nine after finishing second in a contest where he bested many of the foes he will see again on Monday.

Trained by Jose Sanguino, Alex Anaya will ride the five year old son of One Sweet Jess. The Arizona bred racked up a string of four straight wins earlier this year and has accumulated earnings of nearly $100,000 lifetime.

Jacango will look to be the spoiler in the dash under JC Estrada for Trainer Elodio Madrigal.

Fillies and Mares will take the Thoroughbred spotlight in the day’s ninth race with a purse of $7,600 for claiming variety at six furlongs. Lisa and Kyrie Baze’s Lovethisbar holds a favored role in the sprint contest after campaigning in $10,000 to $15,000 claiming company at Emerald Downs.

Trained by Rigoberto Velasquez, the four year old filly by Demon Warlock will be ridden by Jose Zunino. Showing speed at Emerald Downs, Lovethisbar recently breezed 48 2/5 in a morning drill at Portland. Zanab will likely be considered a major threat after facing stakes company in her last start in The Multnomah Falls Handicap for Trainer Neil Knapp. Owned by Aaron Bresko, Zanab will be guided by Leonel Camacho-Flores from post position three. Stepping back into claiming company, Zanab may put her late running style to work in the six panel run.

Post time Monday is 12 noon Pacific with a ten race card. Admission & parking are always free at Portland Meadows.
