LOS ALAMITOS, CA—JANUARY 10, 2019— Grade 1 stakes winner Mickey Ward and six-time stakes winner Joe Legacy are among the eight runners that will face off in the $20,000 Barbra B Handicap at 550 yards on Sunday at Los Alamitos. Eight races are on tap starting at 5:20 p.m. (PST).

Owned by Ralph and Carolyn Fales and trained by their son, Matt Fales, Mickey Ward won the Grade 1 Cox Ranch Distance Challenge Championship at 870 yards on November 17, which is one of his two career stakes wins around the turn.

The 8-year-old gelding has been a winner at 550-yards as well and has twice won at this distance at Los Alamitos, including 3/4 length victory here nearly a year ago. Jesus Rios Ayala will ride the homebred son of FDD Dynasty.

Greg Torgerson's Joe Legacy is as hard-knocking as they come. A multiple stakes winner at Los Alamitos, the 8-year-old gelding by Brookstone Bay won the 2014 John Ward Handicap and then - after a two-year layoff - returned to win the 2018 running under the conditioning of Jose Hernandez Jr.

For his career, the much traveled Joe Legacy has won nine of 36 starts and has also garnered stakes victories at Laurel Brown Racetrack in Utah, the Elko County Fair in Nevada, and Weber Downs in Ogden, Utah. Carlos Huerta will ride the Utah-bred.

Go Cash Stevie B and Run Raging Rhino Run, two of the top Quarter Horse distance runners on the grounds, will look to sharpen their speed at 550 yards. As for Go Cash Cash Stevie B, the 4-year-old Dashair gelding was a winner at 550-yards at Ruidoso Downs and a 300-yard winner at Los Alamitos during his juvenile campaign.

Dan Wilson's Run Raging Rhino Run enters this race after a strong runner-up effort to Rule He Will in the Snowbound Superstar Handicap at 870 yards. He's also won six straightaway races at Los Alamitos, including one at 550-yards. He'll look to improve on his fifth place finish in last year's Barbra B Handicap.

The field will be completed by A Mere Icon, who finished third to Mickey Ward in the Cox Distance Challenge, Dustys Classy Dash, who finished third at 550 yards in his most recent start, Newport Coaster, and GT Runaway Date.
