New 6 P.M. Post Time, Dreaming Sweet Handicap Highlights Friday’s Program

LOS ALAMITOS, CA—FEBRUARY 28, 2019—The racing action starts an hour earlier on Friday nights with a 6 p.m. first post time beginning this week at Los Alamitos. As always, the early Pick Four begin in Friday's first race.

Barry and Janice Sather’s multiple stakes winner Singles Cruise, an upset winner in a trial to the Grade 1 Los Alamitos Winter Derby on January 19, is among the headliners in tonight’s featured $15,000 Dreaming Sweet Handicap at 330 yards. Scheduled as the eighth race of the night, the Dreaming Sweet is after the winner of the Grade 2 El Primero Del Ano Derby in 2008.

Singles Cruise was one of the big surprises on Winter Derby trial nights, as she outdueled a quality field by a head at 33-1 odds while advancing to the 400-yard final. The Favorite Cartel filly arrived at Los Alamitos after enjoying a highly production 2-year-old campaign in which she won the Grade 3 Canadian Quarter Horse Futurity at Century Downs in Rocky View County in Alberta, and both the Evergreen Park Juvenile and Jerry Stojan Memorial Stakes at Grande Prairie in the City of Alberta, Canada.

In the Winter Derby final on February 9, Singles Cruise was involved early, but she bumped several times and faded to eighth.

Singles Cruise will be facing a good field of sophomores that will also include Juan Carlos Chavez's stakes winner Striver and Valentin Zamudio's stakes placed runner Callendar. Those two enjoyed some futurity success last year with Striver running second in the Robert Adair Kindergarten Futurity and Callender running in the PCQHRA Breeders Futurity. Four others will also race.
