PHOENIX, AZ—MARCH 27, 2019—First Lady Perry, a stakes-winning daughter of champion Mr Jess Perry campaigned by Scott McDaniel, will make her sophomore season debut in Sunday’s 350-yard AQRA President’s Open Spring Derby trials at Turf Paradise.
First Lady Perry has earned $34,223 from seven starts, and she ended her 2-year-old season with a neck victory in the December 9, 400-yard AQRA Turf Paradise Futurity. The filly drew post 2 and will be ridden by Mark Jasso in the last of three trials.
Ruben Jimenez’s Stel A Secret, a stakes winning Stel Corona filly trained by Guillermo Morales, drew post 2 and will be ridden by Kevin Carbajal in the second heat. Stel A Secret is coming off of a juvenile campaign during which she banked $22,949 from five outs and won the October 28, 350-yard AQRA President’s Fall Futurity.
The 10 fastest qualifiers will meet in the $10,000-added AQRA President’s Open Spring Derby final on April 14.
