SHELBYVILLE, IN—MAY 23, 2019—WH Design By Dash, an 8-year-old son of Brimmstone racing for Julia Rae Martin, is one of nine state-bred sprinters entered in Saturday’s 400-yard, $83,100 Born Runner Classic Stakes (R) at Indiana Grand.
WH Design By Dash will be making his season debut off of a 2018 campaign during which he earned $103,040 from just three starts and won the Born Runner Classic and Bob Woodward Memorial Stakes (R). The gelding drew post 8 and will be ridden by Rodney Prescott for trainer Paul Martin.
Sheri Miller’s Beach Cartel, a homebred 7-year-old Escondido Beach gelding trained by Randy Smith, drew post 4 and will be ridden by Berkley Packer. Beach Cartel has earned $377,317 from 28 outs -- all at Indiana Grand -- and he ended his 6-year-old season with a second-place finish in the 400-yard, $84,000 Hoosier Park Classic Stakes (R) for Indiana-breds.
