RUIDOSO DOWNS, NM—JUNE 3, 2019— Trainer Trey Wood sends out his dangerous foursome — which includes the top qualifiers on each of two trial days — in the Grade 1, $1-million Ruidoso Futurity at 350 yards on Sunday afternoon at Ruidoso Downs.

First post time is 1 p.m. (MDT) and there is always free parking and free general admission at Ruidoso Downs.

The horses with the five-fastest times on each day of Ruidoso Futurity trials qualified to race in the Ruidoso Futurity. The horses with the next five-fastest times on each trial day gain preference to race in the $100,000 Ruidoso Juvenile, also on Sunday.

The Wood-trained Silk for My Hero V, Fernweh, Lil Miss Sashay and Kiss Thru Fire are in the Ruidoso Futurity. Silk for My Hero V raced to the fastest time during the first day of Ruidoso Futurity trials while Fernweh posted the top time during the second day of trials. There were 14 trials at 350 yards on each day.

"They all came back really well," Wood said of his four futurity finalists. "I think that they should improve off of their trials."

Jockey Ricky Ramirez was aboard Silk for My Hero V, Fernweh and Lil Miss Sashay in the trials. He chose to ride Fernweh in the Ruidoso Futurity.

Fernweh, Lil Miss Sashay and Kiss Thru Fire each made their first starts in the Ruidoso Futurity trials.

Carry "Rusty" Allred's Fernweh displayed pure talent while winning her trial. The Favorite Cartel-sired filly was on the lead and then showed her athletic ability while pulling out to the dominating two-and-three-quarter-length win. She was timed in :17.560.

Fernweh showcased her potential when she raced to the fastest time on the first of three days of training races at Ruidoso Downs in early May.

Ramirez and Fernweh start from the ninth post position.

Circle Cross Racing Stables' Silk for My My Hero V is the only horse from the Wood qualifiers who came into the Ruidoso Futurity trials with experience. The filly by first-crop sire One Valiant Hero was a close second in her Heritage Place Futurity trial on May 10.

Silk for My Hero V got a quick start in her Ruidoso Futurity trial and gained a clear advantage. She held that advantage to win by one-and-one-quarter lengths with her first day fastest-qualifying time of :17.704.

Mark and Annette McCloy's Lil Miss Sashay was bumped coming out of the gate, but maintained her composure. She then performed like a seasoned horse while steadily pulling away for the one-and-one-quarter-length score.

A daughter of Kiss My Hocks, Lil Miss Sashay was timed in :17.807 for the second-fastest time on the second day of trials.v Francisco Raul Ramirez Jr. gets the mount on Lil Miss Sashay with the sixth post position.

Gentry Farms' homebred Kiss Thru Fire was ridden by Tanner Thedford to her trial win and he retains the mount with the inside post position.

Kiss Thru Fire, a 23-1 longshot, started well from the ninth post position in her trial. The royally bred daughter of Walk Thru Fire and champion Fredaville was with the leaders at the halfway point and then humbled her competition with the one-and-three-quarter-length win in :17.871, the fourth-fastest qualifying mark on the second trial day.

Garlyn O. Shelton's homebred Cartel Charly and Horton Racing, LLC's homebred At Attention will be racing in the Ruidoso Futurity for trainer John Stinebaugh.

Agustin Silva rode each horse to their trial victory and will be aboard Cartel Charly with the fifth post position.

Cartel Charly bumped at the start of his trial and then prevailed by a neck over qualifier Oatman Creek Senator. The Coronado Cartel-sired Cartel Charly recorded a time of :17.845, the third-fastest time on the second trial day.

Silva and Cartel Charly start from the fifth post position.

At Attention scampered away from the starting gate and went to the lead. The gelding then held his rivals safe to win by one-half length. His time of :17.791 was the second-fastest time on the first day of trials.

The Tres Seis son made a start at Remington Park before his Ruidoso Futurity trial, finishing second in a maiden race.

At Attention drew the third post position and Kelsi Purcell rides.

In the $100,0000 Ruidoso Juvenile, also at 350 yards, Kj Mucho Macho Man has stakes credentials and an impressive Ruidoso Futurity trial win.

Owned by John and Kathy Lee with Ruben Mares, Kj Mucho Macho Man won his Ruidoso Futurity trial by one-and-one-half lengths. In his prior start, the Apollitical Jess son was third in the $323,571 West Texas Futurity.

Trainer Wes Giles will have Adrian A. Ramos ride Kj Mucho Macho Man with the inside post position.
