WH Kenny G Now Carrying Torch For Brown Stable at Indiana Grand Racing & Casino

SHELBYVILLE, IN—JULY 2, 2019—For the past seven years, Quarter Horse Trainer Ron Brown has had one of the top horses in the state of Indiana. Tinys First Pepsi was the first to step up in 2012, going on to win nearly $300,000 in purses before his retirement.

Then, Pistolpacking Pepsi surged onto the scene, sealing his status as one of the all-time top five leading Indiana Quarter Horses for purses in excess of $450,000. Now, it's WH Kenny G that has stepped up to carry the torch in the Brown Stable, already turning in a multi-victory season this year at Indiana Grand.

WH Kenny G began his racing career in 2015 at two, closing out the season with a win in the $194,000 Miss Roxie Little Futurity. The Gold Medal Jess son came back at three to earn a win in the Blue River Derby trials.

At four, he was a winner in the $53,000 Bradford Stakes and at five, just missing the title in the $87,000 Bob Woodard Classic by a nose. Now six, WH Kenny G just won his second race in three starts for 2019 and looks as strong as ever heading into his next battle, the Bradford Stakes set for the second all-Quarter Horse racing night of 2019 Saturday, July 6.

"He (WH Kenny G) is older now, but he's still got it," said Brown, who co-owns the sorrel gelding with Robert Ray. "He still loves to run, and he knows where that wire is at."

WH Kenny G will step into the starting gate for Saturday's Bradford Stakes with 12 career wins in 32 career starts. His purse earnings have nearly surpassed that of Tinys First Pepsi, and he should accomplish that goal and topple over the $300,000 mark in the Bradford Stakes. Tinys First Pepsi won't be far away for WH Kenny G's 34th career start.

"We retired 'Tiny' (Tinys First Pepsi) several years ago and now he's our number one pony horse," said Brown, who trains both Thoroughbred and Quarter Horses. "Pistolpacking Pepsi was sold and I hear he's down in Georgia now, but 'Tiny' is still around and will be back at the barn on race night."

The $52,160 Bradford Stakes will be one of two stakes races on the card Saturday. It joins the $76,480 Indiana Grand QHRAI Derby on the card along with trials for the Blue River Derby and the Heartland Futurity.

In addition to the action on the track, racing fans will have the opportunity to win t-shirts and wagering vouchers courtesy of the Quarter Horse Racing Association of Indiana (QHRAI). First post is set at 6:15 p.m.

Thoroughbred and Quarter Horse racing continues through Wednesday, Nov. 6. Racing is conducted Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday at 2:15 p.m. and Saturday at 6:15 p.m. For more information, visit the website at visit www.IndianaGrand.com.
