Talented Juveniles Currently Preparing For September 15 PCQHRA Breeders Futurity Trials

LOS ALAMITOS, CA—AUGUST 23, 2019— The PCQHRA Breeders Futurity trials will be run on Sunday, September 15 at Los Alamitos Race Course and many of the top 2-year-olds on the grounds will be competing in the trials. Here's a quick look at some of the possible starters:

  • FLOKIE- The winner of the Ed Burke Million Futurity has not raced since winning that Grade 1 race by a nose over the filly Dreams Divine. The son of Favorite Cartel posted a 350-yard gate workout in a very easy going time of :18.60 on August 17.
  • CHAYITO CARTEL- The winner of the May 19 Robert Adair Kindergarten Futurity began his career with a three-race win streak. Following a two month break, he returned with a sixth place finish in the $25,000 California Breeders Freshman Stakes on July 27. With a recent start under his belt, he could be back to his winning self on trial night.
  • PITBULL- Unbeaten in three career starts, the son of Favorite Cartel will enter the trials after a solid victory in the Governor's Cup Futurity on July 27. After these trials, Pitbull will skip the Golden State Million trials and will be pointed to the Los Alamitos Two MIllion trials.
  • GIVING FREELY- The filly by Corona Cartel looked sharp in winning the John Deere California Challenge from post number one on August 17. Out of the Mr Jess Perry mare Fate Cant Weight, she's a half- sister to Grade 1 finalist Peighnt Your Fate.
  • EL ANGEL CORONA- The Corona Czech colt beat a field that included Kindergarten winner Chayito Cartel in the Freshman Stakes on July 27. He has finished in the top three in all five career starts, but was scratched from an allowance race on August 18.
  • RUNFORYOURLIFE- A full brother to multiple stakes winner Powerful Favorite and another son of Favorite Cartel, this gelding has been much improved since having the blinkers removed. He won his Governor's Cup Futurity trial by daylight and then ran second in the final.
  • MENTAL ERROR- The Favorite Cartel colt has been a solid performer in the juvenile division, running second in the Kindergarten final and fifth in the Ed Burke Million Futurity. Posted a 220-yard turn and work in :12.80 on August 10.
  • CARTEL JESS ROCKIN- Has finished fourth in both the Kindergarten and Governor's Cup Futurity finals. She's done well on trial nights, winning her Kindergarten heat and running second in her Governor's Cup trial. Stop us if you've heard this one before: she's by Favorite Cartel.
  • UP FOR SPEED- Out of Governor's Cup Futurity winner Up For It, this Favorite Cartel gelding cruised to a 1 3/4 length allowance score on August 17. He had a troubled trip when seventh in the Governor's Cup Futurity.
  • UP AND COMING- The son of Kiddy Up began by winning his first three career starts, including victories in his Ed Burke Million Futurity and Governor's Cup Futurity trials. He was the second choice in the wagering in the Freshman Stakes on July 27, but ran fourth after bumping at the start.
