Nine TQHA Sale Futurity Trials Slated Friday at Retama Park

SELMA, TX—JUNE 29, 2020—Retama Park will host nine trials at a distance of 350 yards for the 2020 $475,000-est. TQHA Sale Futurity(RG2) on Friday's race card. The majority of entries will be first time starters.

Eighty-eight two-year-old graduates of the 2019 TQHA Yearling Sale will go to the post in hopes earning one of the 10 fastest times to get into the $100,000-added restricted Grade 2 final to be run Saturday, July 25.

Ruidoso maiden winner Dash N Leader will start for owner-breeder Pete Scarmardo and trainer Leon Bard in the second trial (Race 2). The $25,000 TQHA repurchase broke his maiden in his first career start with a neck win at Ruidoso Downs May 25th.

The colt by multiple stakes sire Down N Dash, out of Cartel Leader by Corona Cartel, has earned $4,914. Dash N Leader ran an 88 speed index into a 9 mph crosswind in his only start.

Oklahoma Juvenile finalist Captain America B will head the fifth trial (Race 4) for owner Amanda Racing. Alonso Neri conditions the son of world champion sire FDD Dynasty from the One Famous Eagle mare Dashaway Eagle. Victor Urieta, Jr. has named to ride from the 3 post.

Bred in Texas by Bielau Oaks, Captain America B is a $14,500 TQHA Yearling Sale graduate. Placed in four starts this year he was second in his career debut, a trial for the Grade 2 Oklahoma Futurity at Remington Park. He was bumped hard at the break in the $50,000 Oklahoma Juvenile and pulled up by the jockey. Captain America B has earned $3,378.

Coming off a debut win March 1st at Louisiana Downs, Ima Jet Stream will start in the sixth trial (Race 7) for owner TYKHE Racing LLC. M. Heath Taylor conditions the $20,000 TQHA Sale graduate by first-crop sire Ec Jet One.

Bred by Sylvia Shaw and E.H. Pitman, Jr., from the Mr Jess Perry mare Ima Pretty Girl, Ima Jet Stream ran an 86 speed index into a 20 mph headwind in his only start and has earned $1,800.

In the ninth trial (Race 10), trainer Francisco Campos, Jr. will saddle Maribel Hernandez and Martha Nevarez' Special Mariposa, a winning daughter of champion sire The Louisiana Cartel. Jockey Eleazar Hernandez will ride form the 4 post.

Bred by Bob Gaston and Joe Rogriguez, Special Mariposa broke her maiden in her only start June 11 at Delta Downs. She was a nose winner a 330 yard trial for the Old South Futurity. The $8,000 TQHA Sale graduate is out of Pampered Silk by Stoli. The bay filly earned an 83 speed index in her first start.
