RUIDOSO DOWNS, NM—JULY 14, 2020—Hotsempting, a Grade 1-winning daughter of champion Tempting Dash racing for Miguel Y. Gallegos and Mauricio Gallegos, is one of 10 3-year-olds entered back in Saturday’s 440-yard, $710,414 Rainbow Derby (G1) at Ruidoso Downs.
Hotsempting has won all four of her starts and has earned $390,555 this season. The filly’s season resume includes a one-length victory in the 400-yard, $887,000 Ruidoso Derby (G1) on June 6.
The fastest qualifier and 9-5 morning-line favorite, Hotsempting drew post 9 and will be ridden by Esgar Ramirez for trainer Sergio Ibarra.
Other contenders include Cers Final Try, a homebred son of One Dashing Eagle trained by Tony Sedillo for owner Christina D. Robinson. The runner-up to Hotsempting in the Ruidoso Derby, the gelding has won five of 14 starts, including four of nine at Ruidoso Downs, and he has banked $249,126.
Cers Final Try ended his 2-year-old campaign with a third-place finish, 1 1/2 lengths behind winner Mr Jess Jenkins, in the 440-yard, $150,000 Southwest Juvenile Championship (G2) at Zia Park. The gelding drew post 4 and will be ridden by Alfredo Sigala.
