RUIDOSO DOWNS, NM—AUGUST 4, 2020—Why Buy The Cow, a stakes-winning 5-year-old Heza Motor Scooter gelding racing for Carrol A. Durbin, is one of 10 middle-distance sprinters entered in Sunday’s 550-yard, $20,000 Brigand Stakes at Ruidoso Downs.
Why Buy The Cow will be making his second start of the season off of his third-place finish in an 870-yard, $14,500 open-condition allowance for New Mexico-breds at Ruidoso Downs on June 26. The gelding has won four of 13 starts, including last year’s 870-yard New Mexico Cup 870 Championship (R) at Zia Park, and he has earned $162,921.
Why Buy The Cow will be making his first career start at the 550-yard distance. The gelding drew post 10 and will be ridden by Benito Baca for trainer Simon Buechler.
