New Mexico Classic Derby(RG2) winner Girl With A Plan will head the 400-yard, $30,000 New Mexico Filly & Mare Championship (RG1) at Zia Park on Monday.

HOBBS, NM—DECEMBER 2, 2020—Girl With A Plan and Famous Julia, both stakes winners during the meet, are among the dozen state-bred distaffers entered in Monday’s 400-yard, $30,000 New Mexico Filly & Mare Championship (RG1) at Zia Park.

Girl With A Plan will be facing older horses for the first time off of her half-length victory at odds of 25-1 in the 400-yard, $248,000 New Mexico Cup Derby (RG2) for state-bred 3-year-olds on November 9. The sorrel 3-year-old daughter of leading New Mexico sire Big Daddy Cartel is trained by Jaime Aldavaz Sr. for owner Pedro Zubiate.

Girl With A Plan drew post 9 and will be ridden by Sergio G. Dominguez.

The 4-1 morning-line favorite, Famous Julia has won her last three starts, including the 350-yard, $27,000 New Mexico Cup Distaff Stakes (R) on November 9. The 5-year-old daughter of the Dash Ta Fame stallion Dash For Famous is trained by Rene Saucedo for owner Bertha S. Irigoyen.

Famous Julia drew post 3 and will be ridden by Adrian Ramos.

Other contenders include Antonio Gomez’s Diamond And A Half, a stakes-winning 4-year-old First Moonflash mare trained by Jorge Luis Hernandez. Diamond And A Half has earned $79,465 from seven starts this season, and his two wins include a nose victory in the 400-yard, $50,000 Balloon City Stakes at The Downs at Albuquerque on August 15.

Diamond And A Half drew post 10 and will be ridden by Tanner Thedford.
