Five To Face Off In New Moon Stakes On Sunday Night

LOS ALAMITOS, CA—APRIL 8 2021—After a one-week hiatus, racing returns at Los Alamitos Race Course on Sunday night with an eight-race card led by $15,000 New Moon Handicap for 3-year-olds and up fillies and mares.

Remember, the $10,000 Pick 6 Promo continues to be in place at Los Alamitos. If there’s not a carryover going into Sunday’s card, the track will seed the Pick 6 pool with $10,000. That is free money for horse players to go after in the $2 traditional Pick 6 wager at Los Alamitos.

The field for the New Moon might be compact, yet it’s packed with runners with stakes experience. Norma Cano’s Corona Cartel filly Ms Ko who ran third in the Grade 2 Kindergarten Futurity back in 2018, while Ashley Garcia’s stakes winning Favorite Cartel filly All Prettied Up who won the Debutante Stakes here last year.

Jeryl Hartley’s Victorioso Dinastia has the highest profile effort, as she ran second to AQHA champion aged mare Curls Happy Wagon in last year’s Grade 1 Mildred Vessels Memorial Handicap.

Ed Allred’s Wambui, who was second in the Denim N Diamonds Handicap in her last start, and Fayvorite Chick, who has two stakes placed efforts to her name, but had to chase the top finishers in the Denim N Diamonds in her last out.
