Grade 1 winner Hotsempting will make her first official start in more than 10 months in Sunday’s 400-yard, $50,000 Lovington Stakes (G2) at Zia Park.

Hotsempting Returns in Sunday’s Lovington Stakes

HOBBS, NM—NOVEMBER 16, 2021—Hotsempting, a 4-year-old daughter of champion Tempting Dash racing for Miguel Y. Gallegos and Mauricio Gallegos, will make her first official start in more than 10 months in Sunday’s 400-yard, $50,000 Lovington Stakes (G2) at Zia Park.

Hotsempting began her 4-year-old campaign with a fourth-race finish, 1 1/4 lengths behind winner Kiss Thru Fire, in the January 3, $100,000 Charger Bar Handicap (G1) for fillies and mares at Los Alamitos. The mare qualified to all three Grade 1 derbies at Ruidoso Downs last year, and she scored a one-length victory in the 400-yard, $887,266 Ruidoso Derby (G1).

Hotsempting drew post 7 and will be ridden by Sergio Becerra Jr. for trainer Albert Valles.

Other contenders include Miguel Mendoza’s Echo Of Thunder, a multiple stakes-winning 3-year-old son of the Furyofthewind stallion Turbulent Times who will be making his first career start against aged runners. Trained by Alejandro Chavez, the Utah-bred gelding is coming off of a three-quarter length victory in the 400-yard, $40,000 Lobo Derby at Albuquerque Downs on October 23.

Echo Of Thunder drew post 5 and will be ridden by Edgar S. Martinez.
