El Camino CL Returns in Vals Fortune/Teddy Abrams Jr. Stakes

VINTON, LA–JUNE 28, 2022–El Camino CL, a 4-year-old Heza Fast Dash stallion racing for McGehee Horse and Cattle LLC, will make his first start in Louisiana this year in Friday's 400-yard, $60,000 Vals Fortune/Teddy Abrams Jr. Stakes (RG2) for state-breds at Delta Downs.
El Camino CL is coming off of a third-place finish, three-quarters of a length behind winner Diane To Be A Hero, in the May 20, 350-yard Sam Houston Stakes at Sam Houston Race Park. His spring campaign at Remington Park included a fifth-place run, 1 3/4 lengths behind winner Relentlessly, in the 350-yard, $50,000 Eastex Stakes (G2) on March 19.
El Camino CL drew post 9 and will be ridden by Gilbert Ortiz for trainer Justin Powell.
Other contenders include Rogelio Marquez Jr.'s Hezaa Fast Boy, a 5-year-old Heza Fast Dash gelding who is coming off of second-place finish, a head behind winner Shott Gun, in the June 4, $50,000 Miss Polly Classic Stakes (G2) at Delta Downs. Hezaa Fast Boy drew post 8 and will be ridden by David Alvarez for trainer Jesus M. Marquez.
