Wyoming Requires VS Inspections

Q-RACING JOURNAL—MAY 4, 2015—The Wyoming Pari-Mutuel Commission will be requiring a new set of health papers, effective immediately.

Wyoming State Veterinarian Jim Logan contacted the Wyoming Pari-Mutuel Commission to confirm that vesicular stomatitis has been found within the last week in both New Mexico and Arizona. The state vet in Arizona expressed concern that horses from the Arizona racetrack where the virus was found may already be heading to other racetracks. There has also been a case of a horse from a trail/endurance ride in Mt. Carmel Junction, Utah, showing symptoms but all affected and exposed horses are under quarantine.

Effective immediately, the Wyoming Pari-Mutuel Commission and The State of Wyoming will be requiring the following for the live race meets in Wyoming from horses being imported from states where Vesicular Stomatitis virus has been diagnosed:

Any livestock (equine, bovine, porcine, caprine, ovine, or cervidae) entering Wyoming from a county where vesicular stomatitis has been diagnosed within the last fourteen (14) days or a county that contains a premises quarantined for vesicular stomatitis shall be accompanied by a certificate of veterinary inspection dated within ten (10) days of entry containing the following statement: "All animals identified on this certificate of veterinary inspection have been inspected and found to be free from clinical signs of vesicular stomatitis."
