Racing Champions Notice, Senor Cawboy Awarded 2015 AQHA Mexican Champion Title

AMARILLO, TX—FEBRUARY 3, 2016—The American Quarter Horse Association announced today that Senor Cawboy will be awarded the 2015 AQHA Mexican Champion title.

The 2013 sorrel colt owned by Arturo Silva of La Esmeralda, Mexico, won three of six starts and topped his category by earnings with $88,361.

His biggest victory came in his final start of the year, a daylight win in the $146,828 Subasta Selecta Futurity (RG3). Senor Cawboy was trained by Raymun Sandoval, Victor Diaz and Hector Roldan. He was ridden by Julian Sanchez, I. Dominguez, J.C. Alvarado and M.B. Hernandez.

Bred by Anselmo Aguilar’s Cuadra La Presita and foaled in Mexico, Senor Cawboy is the second champion of the year for the breeder, who was also partners in breeding champion 2-year-old filly Walk Thru Crystal. Senor Cawboy is by the Mr Jess Perry stallion Senior Solo and out of the Takin On The Cash mare Takin Cash SLC.

Upon review it was discovered that Volcoms Heart, who was originally chosen as the division’s champion, was ineligible to be on the voting ballot. A Mexican champion must be both foaled in Mexico and run the majority of its races in Mexico. While the mare has raced exclusively in Mexico, she was not foaled there. A special session by the AQHA Racing Council selected Senor Cawboy as the division’s champion.
