Move In Date Delayed At Remington Park

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK—FEBRUARY 4, 2016—Debbie Schauf, Executive Director Oklahoma Quarter Horse Racing Association, said today that horses will not be permitted on the grounds at Remington Park until Friday February 12.

Out of an abundance of caution the on grounds admittance date is being delayed to allow Remington Park to better prepare and sanitize the barn area due to concerns with the EHV1 outbreaks in other racing jurisdictions.

"A press release with more information will forthcoming but I wanted to get this information out as soon as possible," Schauf said.

Horsemen will be allowed to set up their barns as scheduled beginning tomorrow (Feb. 5). The track will open for training on Saturday February 13, and the gates will be set that day also. Entries for the first training races will close February 12 by noon and run the 17th and probably the 18th.

Horsemen will still be expected to get bulk shavings inside their barns as soon as possible even with the delay in arrival of horses.

Horsemen are urged to contact the Remington Park racing office with additional questions.
