AMERICAN QUARTER HORSE ASSOCIATION—SEPTEMBER 28, 2016—A victory in Sunday's $100,000 Mildred Vessels Memorial Handicap (G1) at Los Alamitos earned Sass Me Blue a berth into the Champion of Champions (G1), as well as the No. 9 ranking in the latest AQHA Racing-Horseplayernow.com National Poll for 3-year-olds and older.

Among those in her wake at Los Al was champion Quirky, who slid to No. 10 in the poll after a fourth-place performance. Sass Me Blue was runner-up in January's Charger Bar Handicap (G1), which was won by Quirky, before missing six months of action.

The top of the older-horse rankings continues to be led by sophomores EC Jet One and Jess Good Candy. Meanwhile, All American Futurity (G1) winner Imperial Eagle continues a dominant spot atop the juvenile rankings, accumulating 107 of 110 possible points in the balloting. The only newcomer to the 2-year-old poll this week was the reappearance of Governor's Cup Futurity (RG2) winner AJs Anna Smoke at No. 10.
