SUNLAND PARK, NM—JANUARY 16, 2016—According to an article published today on the PaulickReport.com, Jockey J.R. Valenzuela was suspended by the New Mexico Racing Commission after an electrical device was discovered in the Sunland Park jocks' room prior to Sunday's Shue Fly Stakes (RG2) for state-bred 3-year-old Quarter Horses.
Valenzuela had been named to ride Mighty B Dragon in the 400-yard, $205,974 Shue Fly. He was replaced by Sergio Becerra Jr. who finished fourth, 2¾-lengths behind winner Running Dragon.
