AMERICAN QUARTER HORSE ASSOCIATION—NOVEMBER 15, 2017— After a big weekend of racing with a trio of Grade 1 events at Lone Star Park and Los Alamitos Race Course, the winners of those three races all jumped into the top 10 of the AQHA Racing National Polls.

In the poll for 3-year-olds and up, Chazaq, who won the $956,500 Los Alamitos Super Derby (G1) and earned a berth in the $750,000 Champion of Champions (G1) on December 16, debuted at No. 9, with Apolltical Chad, who captured the $384,355 Texas Classic Derby (G1) at Lone Star Park, coming in at No. 10. Hold Air Hostage continued his reign at the top of the poll.

A victory in the $873,616 Texas Classic Futurity (G1) vaulted Thecartelofmiracle into the 2-year-old rankings for the first time at No. 8. The status quo was maintained at the top with Fly Baby Fly at No. 1 and Eagle Jazz in second.

The coming week of racing includes the Z. Wayne Griffin Directors Trials at Los Alamitos with the final berths on the line for the Champion of Champions. Among those expected to compete are No. 4-ranked Bodacious Eagle and No. 5-ranked BH Lisas Boy, with the latter already having earned a berth and using Directors Trials as a prep after coming back from surgery.
