RUIDOSO, NM—JUNE 11, 2019—The family of Ruidoso Race Horse Hall Of Famer H.C. "Bubba" Werner have announced that a race at Ruidoso Downs on the July 4th card will be named in honor of the longtime trainer.

Werner died April 19 at the age of 82 following a lengthy battle with cancer. At the time of his passing the Quarter Horse racing world was told that a memorial service for the native-Texan would be held later. With the assistance of Ruidoso Downs, the Werner family has planned this memorial with a race to be run in his honor.

After the July 4th race card at Ruidoso Downs, the family of Bubba Werner have invited all interested parties to memorialize Werner with a gathering of friends and family to share memories of the deceased trainer who trained such outstanding runners as AQHA Racing Champion Gelding Come Six, and All American Derby(G1) winning runner Mito Wise Dancer.

The gathering will be at Cree Meadows in Ruidoso, at 301 Country Club Drive.
