GRAND PRAIRIE, TX—NOVEMBER 28, 2020—Lone Star Park concluded its 2020 Fall Meeting of Champions Saturday with a record of $77,867.88 in average daily export handle during the meeting featuring American Quarter Horses. That is 16% higher than our previous all-time high twenty years ago in the 2000 Fall Meeting of Champions.

It rained all night for the closing race card. The track went from fast to wet fast to being listed sloppy for the big races of the night. The Grade 1, $1,031,211 Texas Classic Futurity was won by Bob and Jerry Gaston's homebred, Dulce Sin Tacha ($14.20).

The colt by Jess Good Candy out of Prissy Sin Tacha by Tempting Dash covered the 400-yards in 19.628 seconds. Winning trainer M. Heath Taylor has qualified horses to this race seven times since 2003 finishing second three times, third twice, fifth once and sixth once.

He really was over the moon finally getting that elusive win. Winning jockey was Rodrigo Sigala Vallejo. This was Vallejo's third Texas Classic Futurity win. He won in 2004 aboard Azoom and again in 2008 aboard Mr Queens Mystery.

The John Stinebaugh owned and trained Perrys Double Down ($19.20) took first place in the Grade 1, $393,210 Texas Classic Derby. With Francisco Calderon up, the gelded son of Mr Jess Perry out of Double Down Darling by Fishers Dash posted a time of 21.478 for the 440-yard derby. This was the first Texas Classic Derby win for both Stinebaugh and Calderon.

Season Leaders

The leading jockey award went to Luis L. Vivanco who won 31 races from 192 starts. His mounts won a total of $737,514. This was his second Lone Star Park riding title. He won previously in 2014.

Trainer Alonso Neri won his first Lone Star Park training title winning 28 of 121 races and earning a total of $665,627.

Sarah Huskey of Dallas, Texas was awarded her first leading owner title winning 6 of 18 races. Her horses earned $84,222 during the season.
