Texas Racing Hall of Fame Names 2021 Inductees

GRAND PRAIRIE, TX—JULY 29, 2021—The Texas Racing Hall of Fame will welcome five new members to its ranks in a ceremony set to be held November 20 at Lone Star Park.

The Texas Racing Hall of Fame works to preserve the history and convey the excitement of horse racing in America while honoring trainers, jockeys, owners, horses and all other contributors who have impacted the racing community in Texas.

The organization also provides funding to non-profit groups that impacted the Texas equine industry and for educational opportunities for persons in Texas associated with the equine industry.

Those being inducted in 2021 include:

  • Mike Robbins, a world champion trainer who has conditioned the earners of more than $6 million.
  • Dr. Jim Heird, an AQHA Past President and is the Glenn Blodgett Equine Chair Executive Professor & Coordinator at Texas A&M University.
  • Kenny Troutt, the owner of WinStar Farms.
  • Tommy Azopardi, a longtime president of the Texas Horsemen’s Partnership.
  • Hal Wiggins, a Thoroughbred trainer who guided the likes of champion Rachel Alexandra (TB).

The JoAnn Weber Award will be going to Jennifer Gibbs.

The ceremony will be held in the Alysheba Room at the Grand Prairie, Texas, racetrack. More details will be released as they become available.
