Post-Position Draw For Champion Of Champions And Two Million Set For Wednesday, December 7

LOS ALAMITOS, CA—NOVEMBER 29, 2022–Los Alamitos Race Course will host a special post-position draw on Wednesday, December 7 for the 50th running of the Champion of Champions and for California’s richest horse race, the Grade 1, $1,884,225 Los Alamitos Two Million Futurity.

The draw will take place in the Finish Line Room at Los Alamitos and will be televised live nationally on FanDuel TV starting at 2:30 p.m..

Media members and horsemen are invited to attend the draw festivities. Connections of each of the horses competing in the December 10 Champion of Champions and December 11 Los Alamitos Two Million will be able to select their post position based on a random draw that will be conducted earlier in the week.

Ed Burgart’s morning line for the 50th Champion of Champions, perhaps the most anticipated morning line in the history of Quarter Horse racing, will be announced for the first time during this draw. Burgart’s morning line for the Los Alamitos Two Million Futurity will also be announced during the show.

The Champion of Champions will be headed by Dunn Ranch’s two-time defending winner Apollitical Pence and Downtime Enterprises Inc., Dean Frey, and Billy Smith’s reigning AQHA World Champion Danjer. 

Full brothers Powerful Favorite and Bomb Cyclone, both owned by Rosenthal Ranch, and AQHA champion Empressum are among the other top contenders in the Champion of Champions. All American Derby winner (G1) A Pollitical Candy V, Mildred Vessels Memorial Handicap (G1) winner Pattys Saint, PCQHRA Breeders Derby winner Sweet Dasha Fire, and stakes winners Cattail Cove and Jessapolliticalgirl will complete the field.

The Los Alamitos Two Million Futurity will be headed by Steve Holt and Jeff Jones’ All American Futurity (G1) winner Hes Judgeandjury, a half-brother of Empressum, and Rosenthal Ranch’s  fastest qualifier Cyber Attack, who is a full-brother to Powerful Favorite and Bomb Cyclone.

Other top juveniles in action will include Golden State Million Futurity finalists Jeriko, Hay Shaker, and AJ Born Runnin.  The draw portion of the event is also open to public.
