CLAREMORE, OK—NOVEMBER 2, 2014—Twisted S Ranch’s I Bleed Red, a stakes-placed 3-year-old gelding by Red Storm Cat, is one of 10 sprinters entered back in Sunday’s 350-yard, $36,000 AQHA Will Rogers Maiden Challenge at Will Rogers Downs.
Trained by Luz Chavira, I Bleed Red has earned $10,233 from five outs this season, and his resume includes a third-place finish in the September 28, $42,000 Adequan Will Rogers Derby Challenge Stakes. James Flores will ride the gelding from post 3 on Sunday.
I Bleed Red is coming off of a second-place finish to PT Corona Nights in the first of two trials on October 19. A 3-year-old son of Corona Cartel campaigned by Benjamin Salazar Jr. from the barn of Christian Rubalcava, the colt has won two of his three starts at Will Rogers Downs this season.
PT Corona Nights will break from post 5 under jockey Larry Payne.
Fastest qualifier Secretive Jess also brings in a two-race win streak. The homebred 3-year-old filly by No Secrets Here races for Donald Friesen and is trained by Stacy Charette-Hill. Jockey Jorge Torres gets the call in the final.
