CLAREMORE, OK—NOVEMBER 2, 2014—Trainer Stacy Charette-Hill saddled Valiant Chickie to her first career win in Sunday's $33,480 at Will Rogers Downs. Pt Corona Nights finished a close second with Eye For Texas Cash a half-length back in third.
Getting her first win in 12 career starts, Valiant Chickie dueled PT Corona Nights throughout to get the nod at the wire while completing the 350 yards in :17.769 seconds with 20 mph cross wind.
Vicki Tebow, Matt Ratliff, Mary Ellen and Michael Hickman own the daughter of leading sire Valiant Hero out of Special Entery, by Special Effort. The $15,400 winner's purse doubled her career total to $33,284. Omar Reyes rode the Bollenbach Farms Oklahoma-bred filly.
Pt Corona Nights was looking to get his third consecutive win for owner Benjamin Salazar, Jr. and trainer Christian Rubalcava. Larry Payne rode the Corona Cartel colt out of Night Lines, by Strawfly Special. Bred b Henry E. Brown, the sorrel colt earned $6,696 for the effort.
Still a maiden after five starts, the lightly raced Eye For Texas Cash picked up $3,348 for his third place effort. Matthew Cody McCart conditions the First Wrangler gelding for owner Mike Boggan. Wil Evans bred Eye For Texas Cash from the Mr Eye Opener mare Fantastic Eyes. Cody Smith was aboard.
Fastest qualifier Secretive Jess was fourth. Shadasha, I Bleed Red, Powder Eagle, Blizzard Mountain, Splittin Corona and B Bop Corona completed the field.
