Ojango Wins Dick Monahan AQHA Maiden Through Disqualification, Cascade Dynamite Wins Bonus

KENNEWICK, WA—MAY 2, 2015--Ojango was moved to first placed after finishing a neck off Jacango in the $21,111 Dick Monahan AQHA Maiden Stakes final at Sun Downs Saturday afternoon.

Jacango, ridden by jockey Eduardo Gutierrez-Sosa, was disqualified by the track stewards and placed sixth after lugging in and interfering down the stretch. A Tree Dash was placed second and Quematierras was moved to the show position. Stablemates, Ojango and Jacango both race for owner/trainer Pablo Madrigal.

Making only his second career start, Ojango was ridden by jockey Ruben Camacho. The Oregon bred son of Stel Corona is out of the Stoli mare Hannas Halo. Bred by Michael and Shannon McKay, the brown gelding earned $9,711 for his effort. Ojango completed the 350 yards in :17.930 seconds to earn a 93 speed index.

A Tree Dash races for owner Malon Cowgill and trainer Benito Curiel. The 3-year-old Toast To Dash gelding is out of Three Chicks Royal, by A Classic Dash. Bred in California by Kay Fleetwood, A Tree Dash earned $4,222 for the second place finish. Jose Figueroa had the riding assignment.

Pablo Madrigal also trains Quematierras, an Oregon-bred son of Fastnfierce owned by Jose Armenta. Rogelio Gonzalez bred the brown gelding from the Cisco Road thoroughbred mare Back Street Gal. Ridden by Robert Burney, Quematierras earned $2,111 for his effort.

Completing the official order of finish were Runawayheart, Cm Mo Baby, Jacango, A Real Steal 613, Letsgokachingkaching and Mountnbound Princess. Beduin Flights was scratched.

Cascade Dynamite Scores In Sun Downs AQHA Bonus Challenge

Ridden by jockey Ruben Camacho, Cascade Dynamite was the best Saturday afternoon when he defeated Bellingham by a neck in the $11,800 Sun Downs AQHA Bonus Challenge at Sun Downs. Tsunami Kidd finished 1˝ lengths behind the leaders in third.

A 6-year-old son of multiple stakes sire Mountains Majesty, Cascade Dynamite covered the 350 yards in :17.360 seconds, 10/100ths off the Sun Downs track record, to earn a 110 speed index. The $5,546 winner's purse boosted his career earnings to $38,443.

Juan Sanguino trains the stakes winner for owner Ramiro Cancino. Bred in Oregon by Wade Siegel, Cascade Dynamite has won nine of 29 career starts. He is out of the thoroughbred Favorite Trick mare Mary A Millionaire.

Also trained by Juan Sanguino, Bellingham is a 6-year-old son of Check Him Out racing for owner Pedro Sanguino. Jake Samuel had the riding call aboard the Zory Kuzyk California-bred gelding out of My Ladys Eyes, by Mr Eye Opener. He picked up $2,2360 for the effort.

Tsunami Kidd, a stakes-placed son of leading sire Walk Thru Fire, races for owner/breeder Malon Cowgill and trainer Benito Curiel. Jose Figueroa rode the California-bred out of Fly Thru Time, by Strawfly Special. The brown colt earned $1,180.

Time For Jesse Lee, Sollovino, Sneakin Tr, Wild N Sexy, Catlow Rim and Cm Got Overserved completed the field.
